Coaching involves conversations: conversations between a coach and a client (one-to-one) or conversations between a coach and a team or group.

These conversations can be face-to-face, over the telephone, or via a digital platform (such as Skype, Zoom or MS Teams).

Most importantly, these conversations are highly confidential. Trust and respect between coach and client(s) is fundamental in a coaching relationship.

Whether coaching an individual or a team/group, philippa coaching uses a strengths-based approach to help clients achieve positive change and be at their best. This approach has been informed by research and thought leadership in neuroscience, positive psychology, and emotional intelligence.

This approach features:

  • Asking thought provoking questions

  • Actively listening

  • Identifying a client's resources (experience & qualities) and appropriate external resources

  • Doing assessments, such as Clifton Strengths and Genos Emotional Intelligence, where appropriate

  • Helping to clarify goals

  • Helping overcome obstacles to success

  • Providing compassionate support to achieve a higher degree of self-awareness and self-care

  • Measuring progress towards goals and maintaining accountability

  • Developing individualised action plans.

Underpinning philippa coaching’s philosophy and approach is a structured process in which the client owns the coaching agenda, and has an internal commitment to the coaching objectives and a desire to take action to move forward.

For coaching to be most effective, at least three sessions are needed over a period of time that allows for ‘action learning’ (e.g. practice in the workplace). The first coaching session focuses on clarifying the coaching goal(s), while subsequent sessions involve identifying insights and practicing and achieving the behavioural, mindset, and/or skill changes required to support this goal.

Ideally, a minimum of six sessions are conducted for a transformational change to be achieved. If the coaching agenda relates to a very specific work challenge, then potentially one or two sessions may be sufficient to allow for debrief and reflection.

Coaching sessions are generally one-hour long, but thanks to philippa coaching’s tailored approach, times can be varied, depending on your needs.

For Individuals

philippa coaching offers a free 30-minute meeting, either face-to-face or via telephone or a virtual platform.

Genuine rapport, customised services and coaching-readiness are keys to successful coaching outcomes, so at this time an open and honest exchange of information takes place and your needs will be evaluated carefully.

This session will help you confirm that philippa coaching is the right professional development option for you.

Once this is established, Philippa will recommend a suitable number of sessions, a timeframe, potential assessment tools (such as self-assessments and 360 strengths and emotional intelligence assessments) and share the fee structure.

For Organisations

philippa coaching offers a one-hour, free, face-to-face or virtual meeting.

This is an opportunity to discuss your human resource and change strategies, and to scope potential coaching programs that would suit your organisational vision.

Philippa will then submit a proposal to you outlining programs tailored to your needs and associated fee structures.

These programs may incorporate upfront assessment processes and/or individual, team or group coaching of leaders and employees.

“Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential.”
